Professor Nicolas Cherbuin is the Associate Dean, Higher Degree Research at the College of Law, Governance and Policy. He co-heads the Department of Health, Economics, Wellbeing and Society at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, where he leads the Neuroimaging and Brain Lab.

Over the last 20 years, Professor Cherbuin's research has focused on identifying the risk and protective factors for physical, cognitive, and mental health, with a particular interest in modifiable risk factors including lifestyle, chronic diseases and environmental exposure contributing to biological ageing, neurodegeneration and dementia.

Professor Cherbuin is an enthusiastic supporter of multi-disciplinary research. He is a steering member of the International Alliance of Research University (IARU) Ageing, Longevity and Health stream and contributes to a number of international research consortia including the Cohort Studies of Memory in an International Consortium (COSMIC), the Affectome, and the Global Burden of Disease. He is also a chief investigator on several large epidemiological projects and leads randomised controlled trial and clinical studies.
